New Orleans Must-Tastes

New Orleans will forever epitomize nostalgia. The Southern destination is not only a food mecca, but it’s filled with memories with some of my very favorite people. Alex and I went on our first date in New Orleans on a “day off’ as staff members of a Jewish summer camp two-ish hours north; and since, it’s where we’ve returned year after year to celebrate and spark new adventures. My best friend from college lives in New Orleans, too, so we have been grateful for a local guide to steer us from tourist traps and into the heart and soul of the city’s culture. Whether you’re heading down for Mardi Gras or a quiet getaway weekend, below is my list of must-tries. You’ll notice few of my recommendations actually reside near the French Quarter—but mozy up Magazine Street or into Uptown, and you’ll be in awe of the charm.

Feel free to disagree with my don’t-miss po-boy spots; everyone is entitled to their own favorite! Leave your additions in the comments, if you’d like.
