Back to the Basics: 2020 Wardrobe Essentials
On any given day, at any given moment, I could be running from the conference room to the restaurant, from the grocery store aisles to in front of the camera. My wardrobe must be about versatility — but why don’t all of us embrace a bit of versatility in our closet this year? A simplified palette that’s less reliant on season, neutral and interchangeable, layer-able and luxurious — Oak Hall has helped me select the 2020 essentials for our closets, and I’m here to walk you through them!

Light-wash denim
It’s back and bigger than ever. Light-wash is a must for 2020 styling, no matter the occasion; and as long as it’s high-waisted, I am in! I’m wearing Citizens of Humanity’s Olivia High Rise Slim Fit, part of the Premium Vintage Collection, as well as AG’s The Isabelle High Waisted Straight Leg jean in multiple looks.
Whether paired with a blazer, a structured white blouse, a Nili Lotan Owen sunset wash button-down, or a tee, you’re covered.
WHITE BUTTON-DOWN
A crisp, structured white button-down is a professional’s best friend. This Palmer Harding Julia tied blouse brings character to a classic. Of course, slacks or black tapered pants would look fantastic, but light denim and a heel work, too!
LINEN DRESS
Vince’s linen looks are giving me all the feels. This Diane Keaton-esque dress, styled by Katy Stovall at Oak Hall, is so timeless, comfortable and elegant. I tied a one-loop bow and paired it with a Loeffler Randall Paulina pointy-toe pump in snakeskin (they have black in-store, too). You’ll see these heels in multiple looks, too — because, yes, even snakeskin is versatile in 2020.
LAYERING TEE + WHITE JEAN
The Great’s selection of washed tees are so comfortable, I could live in them. I especially love the ruffled bottom tee available this season, which comes in multiple colors. It’s a great foundation for layering with sweaters, cashmeres, fitted leather jackets, etc.
My white jean go-to is the AG Mari cut in a biscuit color. I’ve paired my Vince Cambria boot in smoke suede here, which are literally like butter.
RELIABLE BLAZER + HEEL
As mentioned above, I couldn’t be more into the Loeffler Randall snakeskin pump for day or night! But the real showstopper here? This Akris white blazer, dusted with pearls for a dainty yet dramatic entrance!
SWEATSHIRTS (WITH A PERSONALITY)
Sweatshirts are now acceptable post-workout, in the office, and out to dinner — especially when a ruffle or ruche is involved.
I am obsessed with the puffed shoulder 80s comeback, subtly showcased in the Citizens for Humanity ivory version. Above on the porch, I’ve layered my ruffle tee with Vince’s cashmere double-layer crew in biscuit.
