Why A Skincare Plan Matters

I don’t know about you, but I am a tried-and-true planner. My calendar, my meals, my finances, and my jobs all revolve around time management and strategic scheduling. I know; this probably sounds like the opposite of fun (don’t worry, I’ve been making more room for spontaneity), but it’s the key to balancing and building a fulfilling lifestyle, in my opinion!

My holistic skincare destination Levy Dermatology has reminded me the value of a plan—in this case, for my skin. We can’t wait to show you what we have in store!

RECOMMENDED PRODUCT + PROCEDURAL PLAN

The team at Levy maps out a custom protocol, outlined for me above, with an accompanying schedule of monthly appointments to get on the books. This consultation is available to anyone, and it’s such an eye-opening and informative opportunity to get to know where you are and where you can go! Of course, saying “yes” to each and every suggestion may not be feasible; at Levy, it’s about starting and sticking to a plan.

I sat down with my nurse practitioner Lauren Plyler, who guided me through the process, reviewing what’s worked, what we can explore, and how to put it on a calendar. Lauren, my aesthetician Lulu Martin, and other fantastic Levy team members including Camille Harris and Amy Person are helping the plan come to life!

The medical team at Levy is arguably the most qualified in town and seamlessly pulls aesthetic, cosmetic, and medical practices into a one-stop shop. How great that I can get my annual skin check, facials, products and cosmetic procedures in one place with one schedule?

It’s pretty phenomenal that, during the first week of February, I already have a sense for my roadmap—and the staff manages my schedule to keep me on track.

My strategic skincare plan is focused on prevention. Considering my age and skin status, Levy is setting me up for long-term, sustainable success versus later regret.

PROCEDURES

Levy’s newest technologies, such as the Morpheus microneedling treatment, will preventatively improve my skin texture by tightening and resurfacing, producing collagen, and removing fine lines. I tried a Vivace microneedling treatment last year and was pleased with the initial results. I am excited to see the impact of this next treatment, particularly on my neck, where two distinct lines are already defined due to the trendy (but serious!) issue of “tech neck”—i.e., when you stare down at your phone and laptop all day long, creating wrinkles and terrible posture, too. My jobs do not help this situation, but I am happy to now learn the options to prevent its further damage!

Frequency-wise, Levy recommends alternating microneedling and BBL (broadband light) monthly. BBL is a spot treatment to reduce red spots on my cheeks, and a total of four rounds is recommended. Morpheus microneedling is slated for three rounds of treatment.

In addition, I’ll alternate monthly facials with Lulu Martin for extra hydration. Hydrafacials, Diamond Glow dermalinfusion, and Oxygen facials will moisturize and make my skin glow!

PRODUCTS

Next, when it comes to products, the goal of my daily regimen is to prevent redness, dryness, and the occasional flare-up of acne. I have been on a similar Levy regimen since 2018 that has, frankly, changed my life. My skin now glows (not because it’s oily!) and rarely breaks out because of these medical grade products that are proven to perform. Believe me: In comparison, the trendy $20 products down the aisles or on Instagram story swipe-ups will add up, especially when results don’t last (or even kick in).
