Mid-August is a confusing time for the mind, in my opinion. We’re back to school and the accompanying routine in the South, but yet the temps remain high, and the heat somehow pulls our productivity down a few degrees. Labor Day is still weeks away, and the technical start of fall isn’t until mid-September, but we’re prompted to redefine the time. Nonetheless, I’m hanging onto summer through its produce and pace as long as I can. Perhaps it’s because I’m finally in my own kitchen for the first time since June this weekend.
