A Fourth of July Fireworks Trunk Tailgate
This time of year, we’re tailgating for a different type of main event — Fourth of July fireworks! Pack the trunk and stake out your favorite viewing spot for a family-friendly affair (pups included). With drinks, food and games, it’s bound to be an all-day hangout for your crew. Invite neighbors or friends to pull up in their vehicles to create a row of holiday hangin’ leading up to the after-dark sparkler showcase. Scroll to learn how to pull it off flawlessly…
SET THE SCENE
My new BMW X3 from Roadshow BMW has the perfectly-sized tailgate to pack our party essentials and, upon unloading, serves as the ideal serving buffet, too.
We backed up in a park facing the future firework-lit skyline and strung some minimalist Fourth of July garlands across the trunk door to create a themed scene.
In addition to drinks and snacks, we packed the trunk with our cornhole set to provide some friendly competition during our afternoon gathering. Any lawn game is bound to entertain.
Then, we turned up our Sirius XM station (Roadshow BMW owners receive a complimentary year of the service!) for all-day music entertainment. Each of us took turns playing DJ for the hour, mixing country, Coffeehouse and Alt Nation!
SIPS + SNACKS
I leaned into the nostalgia of the holiday with a cooler of classic bottles of Cokes, Diet Cokes and Red Stripes. Nothing beats that refreshing first sip after popping the top of a bottle — am I right?
Make your own version of pronto pups by wrapping Pillsbury crescent roll dough around your favorite brat or hot dog. I used organic 100%-beef franks! Pop them in the oven until the dough is golden and flaky, and then stick ‘em with festive blue and red treat sticks to serve.
Then, fresh, pre-sliced berries and cherries in muffin tins allow for easy grabbing and sharing, especially for little ones. Wih this method, there’s no need for a big salad bowl with tongs, bowls, and flatware.
Before you know it, it’ll be time to cozy up for the fireworks show. Don’t forget blankets, pillows, and bug spray for optimal viewing!
